Welcome Discovery Dragons to the After School Program!
The Sprockids San Diego After School Program teaches off-road skills and essential technique through drills, games, and fun activities.
Your rider will learn: bike safety and how to conduct an ABC bike check, importance of a properly fit helmet and a helmet check, about bike components and equipment, the three mountain bike essentials, what neutral and ready position are and how and when to use them, proper bike body positioning and separation, shifting gears and how to brake effectively. Skills are taught in a playful environment using our obstacles and playing games while on the bike!
Starting in April (quarter 4), this program will be for riders in grades 1, 2, and 3 who are comfortable riding their bikes. This program is limited to 10 riders and will run for five consecutive Tuesdays.
*Tuesdays 4/9, 4/16, 4/23, 4/30
3:15pm – 4:45 pm at Discovery Charter
*Tuesday: 5/7
3:15pm – 5:15pm: meet at Discovery Charter to ride the Rice Canyon Trail

We’re fired up to ride with you! Ride Krew, builds confident, capable riders through skills, smart technique, and plenty of fun. We level up skills through drills, games, obstacle challenges, and on-bike activities that keep riders engaged and progressing each week.
What your rider will learn:
• Bike safety and how to perform an ABC Bike Check
• Proper helmet fit and helmet safety checks
• Bike components and equipment basics
• The 3 Mountain Bike Essentials
• Neutral and Ready position — what they are and when to use them
• Body positioning and bike/body separation
• Shifting gears smoothly
• Braking effectively and riding with control and so much more!
Skills are taught in a supportive, high-energy environment where riders learn by doing and build confidence every session.
Wednesdays: 4/15, 4/22, 4/29, 5/6, 5/13, and 5/20
3:15pm – 4:45pm
First four classes will be held on campus, the last class will be a trail ride with a separate signup.
Please have your rider arrive…

This Monday-to-Friday adventure is perfect for kids eager to learn the fundamental bike handling skills and hit the trails with confidence. Along with biking, we’ve packed the week with exciting games and activities to keep your rider engaged and having a blast!
Throughout the week, campers will learn essential bike skills, including trail safety, proper bike and body positioning, braking, gear shifting, turning, cornering, climbing, and descending. Our expert instructors will lead fun and interactive drills to help reinforce these skills. To top it off, we’ll head out on trail rides starting from the park to explore nearby trail networks, giving riders a chance to put their new skills to practice in a safe, supervised setting.
The program is open to kids aged 7 and up who can comfortably ride a geared mountain bike with a 20″ or larger wheel size on dirt trails.
To ensure a great experience, your rider will need:
- A bike in good working condition
- A properly fitted helmet (snug fit is key)
- Closed-toe sneakers
- Athletic clothing suitable for biking
- A packed lunch, light snacks, and a water bottle to stay fueled and hydrated
